The blackberry was not good. I have no reason to believe that this won't be significantly better. I like pineapple, and I generally like ciders. So far, this beverage maker has not impressed me with their skillset. I genuinely don't know how hard it is to make a cider, but I assume it requires a certain amount of expertise. If you've gotten to the level that you can produce your cider in two different locations, and you can distribute them to states in between, I would assume people like them. As a result, I expect things to improve significantly.
Well, it looks a lot like Apple juice. It doesn't have any of the pulp, but it's the color with a serious bend toward orange. It was also pretty clear until the bottom of the can, as all of the haze absolutely dumped into the center of the beverage. I kind of like it when a beer or other beverage does that, as it makes me think that they thought about what the presentation was going to be like when I brought this home and poured it out. Maybe they didn't. Maybe it's all about the taste, and I'm just deluding myself into thinking that they know that some people like a little theatrics in their beverages. The aroma is very weak pineapple juice. I mean very weak. Pineapples are one of those kinds of fruits that really let you know when they're there. These pineapples are having a hard time making themselves heard.
First sip isn't terrible. At least there's that. It is pineapple juice cut with apple juice, but the sweetness of the pineapple juice appears to be winning. As a result, there's none of the tartness from the apples that I remember from the blackberry, and I also remember not liking it. The aroma having no real strong pineapple flavor is echoed in the sip, however. The pineapple juice just isn't as strong as it needs to be. I don't know what else to say other than I still want better and maybe better will be in the swig.
Tip-in is tangy and sweet pineapples with botanicals. The middle strangely turns carbonation up quite a bit to the point that it drowns out almost any flavor. As a result, the pineapple mist sits above a river of water that isn't repulsive, but it's not particularly endearing. The finish is an echo of the beginning with sweet and tangy pineapple heading into the rather watery trail off.
