Look at that funny little hop. He's got a sailor hat on! I'd like to think that this was named after the famous Gilligan's Island character played by Alan Hale Jr., but I'm too afraid to look it up and find out that it was, instead, named after the captain of Jeff Bezos' yacht or something. I just want to sit back and enjoy a nice IPA on a warm summer day.
While the golden beverage was not specifically referred to as "hazy," I'm going to say that it is suitably hazy for the moniker, if the brewer had been so inclined. It's not like Victory hasn't gone for the label before, and I can't really speak to when they do or do not decide to use it. The white head recedes to a relatively even white cap of bubbles covering the entire top of the beer with a bit of lacing left in its wake.
First sip is fantastic. I mean, this is really good. The tropical fruits are so heavy with this that it deserves to have a massive amount of bitterness that it doesn't have. The result is a smooth, juicy treat that I can't even imagine is going to get better when I do a full gulp. This thing is full-bodied, smooth and the mix with passion fruit nails what it is to be a tropical IPA. I can't imagine this will get better with a swig, but what if it does? What world will I enter? I must find out. I must sail into the tropical abyss.

Tip-in is slightly acidic with carbonation adding a bit to an onslaught that never materializes. The tropical fruits make themselves known by the rind, but there are still waters underneath. The tropical juices flow smoothly under a fairly quiet carbonation ruckus as passion fruit, guava, and orange join star fruit for a delicious and smooth journey down the throat. The finish has a slight hint of bitterness added to the mix as carbonation ceases and the fruits all agree to shout one last time before the trail off.
