All of the other Beatbox beverages I've had so far specifically said they were from Mexico. Yes, they were imported by some place in Texas, but they were made in Mexico. This one is the first outlier, and I don't know if there will be others in the two I have remaining after this, as it only says that it was packed in California. It seems strange that they would have more than one packing and distribution location for this brand of beverage, but I don't even know if they are potentially owned by some mega conglomerate corporation.
This looks a lot different than the others. It looks like very, very weak peach tea. That is what I would have guessed, if I only had a picture of it. But, I have more than just a picture of it. It's sitting right in front of me. That means that I can sniff it, and it smells pretty good. I think these beverages are going out of their way to lull me into a false sense of security for how good this is going to taste based on the smell. Because it smells really good. It says tropical, but it smells sweet like butter rum and pineapple. So, I guess it is tropical.
At first, I thought the sip was going to be very good. It starts off very smooth and sweet with an abundance of tropical flavors that seem to be balanced fairly well. The problem is, that doesn't last. Instead, the aftertaste of the sweetener, which has been the Achilles heel of all of these beverages, comes in and makes things very bad to the point that I don't really want to drink more of this. As I have learned, I can't do a proper gulp, so that would normally mean that I have to sip it further and then report back on how it does over time with sipping. As I don't like the first sip, I'm not going to bother with the rest of it.
