The beer pours a lovely straw yellow, and the perfect head is sticky in all the right ways - we have lacing. The uneven head reminds me of why I like IPAs, and this one is presenting very well. It doesn't say "juicy" on the label, but the aroma doesn't say anything else. There is a bit of magnolia that intertwines with the tropical fruits over citrus.
First sip is unbalanced as fruits try to sweeten things, and bitterness tries to pull the other direction. It is unsettled. Maybe if it happened the other way around, and the sweetness capped off a bitter bite, this would work better. Instead, this is not coming off well, and I have little confidence that a swig will fix things. But I aim to try.
Tip-in is gentle pinpricks of carbonation with tropical fruit meat surging. The middle holds a bitter cover over it all as the fruits continue to flow below them, and the balance is just right. The finish is a slap of bitterness as the fruits turn away and run.
Bottom Line: It had promise.
