Well, I forgot to put ice in the glass first again. I'm just not used to this kind of thing. To be fair, it says that I can serve this chilled in a can, so that is basically the same thing as chilled and poured into a glass, right? Either way, I have put ice in the glass before starting to drink. I'm not going to entirely screw this up.
It is the color of orange soda. Is this the normal color of a pineapple bay breeze? If I were to go to a bar and order one, would it be this color? It seems very vibrant. The aroma is quite strong with pineapple, and the can says that I should be smelling cranberry. Cranberry is one of those relatively subtle flavors that are normally mixed with other berries to kind of hide the flavor of a cranberry.
First sip is, as expected, fruity and sweet. The pineapple is dominating the cranberry, but the cranberry is coming through somewhat. Sweetness is really the overwhelming concern, as the previous beverage became very cloying as I continued to drink. Likewise, the alcohol wasn't noticeable at first, but subsequent sips brought out the alcohol flavor. Is presumably the same in this beverage, but it's not shining through very hard right now. Eventually, it might.
I didn't intend to take a big swig, but it's kind of my habit with an adult beverage. The full swig brings out the rum very solidly right in the middle. It overcomes everything, including the sweetness. It seems reasonably okay for rum, but I'm no expert. I can say that I'm starting to make a good dent in the amount of beverage I have in front of me, but I'm not sure it's making a particularly positive impression. It's too sweet, except for the middle, that could use quite a bit of sweetness.
