I will bang the drum for "add citrus to your wheat beer instead of making me do it when I open the bottle" until I die. Don't expect me to have a lime on hand or an orange wedge or some kind of odd spiral of lemon skin. Music City (who I only recall having one beverage from before) is doing it right by adding what needs added before it leaves their grounds. Thanks, guys!
The notably hazy orange beer puts out a good enough head and then lets it simmer down to a complete yet splotchy covering on top (yes, there's a ring, but no, there isn't any lacing). The key to this beer is going to be the aroma. I didn't smell anything when I opened the can, so it may be that there isn't much of one, and I'm not going to like that. The citrus smell is not particularly pungent, but it's there, so it may translate to a good taste. Here goes nothing.First sip is quite fruity. The tangerines and oranges are really shouting that they want to be seen, and they aren't going to sit back down until someone listens. They may actually be overpowering the rest of the beer, as I didn't get much of a grain or... pretty much anything else. It seems like it's out of balance, but that might just be a sip. There's a reason we don't rely on such things around here.
Tip-in is grains (there they are!) with orange and tangerine skins and very gentle carbonation tingle. The middle flows into a more aggressive carbonation burn that is heightened by the citrus mix and the grains bow out to let the shouting go on. The finish is a calming of everything as grains reemerge and hold the citrus as they sail into the trail off.
Bottom Line: Refreshing and different.
