I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I don't actually need a beer to attract women. What? This is cider? Well... that too. In fact, I have found my relative commitment to beer (and associated beverages - I'm looking at you, sippin' creams) tends to drive women away who don't want to discuss the relative merits of a dark malt or a sweet cider. Either way, I don't imagine I would reach for a Diskin to impress a lady.
It looks like a sparkling rosé wine, near as I can remember. I'm not really a wine guy, so that's just the direction this is going. The carbonation, like a cola or the like, comes out just fine, but it has no staying power at all. Just like other fizzy drinks, the bubbles come up from the depths, but they die almost immediately upon breaching the surface. I expected an apple smell, and this smells more of wine. Specifically, it smells like a sweet strawberry wine.First sip is sweet, tart, apple, strawberry, and a bend toward citrus. I can't say this is my favorite cider right off the bat. The strawberry (and I like strawberries) is adding to this in a way that I'm not liking. It's possible this is the sip not having enough time to become the full beverage it needs to be, but I'm not enamored with this so far.
Tip-in is tart apple and a notion of lime with no carbonation. The middle becomes sweet and the strawberry jumps into the apple to make a nice, balanced drink. The finish is a return of the tart with a follow-up of dry and it leaves sweet apples on the lips.
Bottom Line: Drinkable, but not particularly magnetic.
