I've had the Moo-Hoo stout, and that was pretty good (not that you can tell from the restrained 2.25 rating I gave it on first try). It was so good that I took a few six packs with me to feed to relatives around the holiday a while back. However, this one is white chocolate, and different people can have completely rational discussions about white chocolate and the fact that it should not be called chocolate and is a blight upon this earth. Nevertheless, this still might be good.
The very, very dark brown beverage has tan bubbles that come out about as well as you might hope before recessing to a thin and incomplete cover on top of the beer - leaving no lacing in its wake. The aroma is predominantly cocoa with earth thrown in for flavoring. It doesn't smell particularly sweet, despite the fact that this is a milk stout. That seems odd to me.First sip relives me of all of the misgivings I had going into the beer. It's not the stalwart and rich chocolate stout of its brother, but the white chocolate taste is adding to the existing milk chocolate. This should have been called some kind of milk chocolate/white chocolate mix, as this is way better than a white chocolate stout would be all on its own.
Tip-in is light carbonation dazzle with cocoa nibs and earth joining a smattering of vanilla. The middle is awash with more carbonation than is comfortable while the chocolate-milk slurry heads across the tongue with increased sweetness. The finish is earth and chocolate before getting a little dry at the trail off.
Bottom Line: Not the best, but pretty darn good.
