I like Yee Haw. They are unpretentious as a brewery, and they produce some unexpectedly good beer. I don't know what to make of this lager, as the 4.2% ABV isn't unusually low for one, so this isn't a low calorie or zero alcohol version. I don't know what "Easy" means in the title. I suppose, if it is intended to do battle with the likes of Budweiser or Coors, the implication might be that this is an easy drinking beer. We'll have to see.
The very clear beer is yellow, and the white head dissipates quickly and completely. The result is no lacing and scant few points of nucleation in the depths to signify the carbonated nature of the beverage. The aroma is strong, for this type of beer, and it is slightly tart with a bread malt with tropical fruits smeared on just enough to give interest. Honestly, it smells better than I'm able to properly articulate.First sip is clean, crisp, simple, and it's got more flavor than you might expect. The sourdough bread is full and hefty enough, but it isn't overwhelming. Instead, there is a refreshing, laid-back nature that comes out just well enough to not get too watery. I see on the can that they say this isn't for sipping, so what the hell am I doing?
Tip-in is bread malt with very slight carbonation and a spritz of lemon. The middle comes with carbonation hitting the roof of the mouth, but it's doesn't enflame it - it lets the sourdough bread, lemons, and a hint of tropical fruits make their smooth way down the gullet without, again, getting too watery. The finish is a splash of carbonation across the tongue with a crisp snap that ends on sourdough.
Bottom Line: An honest lager.
