Let's get this out of the way first: this product contains no peanuts. I don't know how you make peanut butter without peanuts. Presumably, they didn't bother making peanut butter to add to cream. Instead, they added peanut flavoring. What is in this peanut flavoring? I have no idea. I don't know what tastes more like peanuts than peanuts. Nevertheless, the note on the back of the bottle says that it does contain milk, but it does not contain peanuts. Let's see if they were able to do it using Druid magic.
This cream is decidedly peanut butter colored. It might be a little dark for peanut butter, but it is pretty darn close. I think it would just depend on which brand you had. Also, it smells like peanuts. I don't know how they did it, but it definitely smells like musty peanuts. Does it smell like peanut butter? No. Just peanuts. Also, it smells like alcohol. At 17% ABV, it's not too surprising that they couldn't get away from the alcohol in the smell, but the point of these creams is supposed to be how well they hide the alcohol. This one doesn't seem to be doing the job, and that is with all of that peanut smell.First sip isn't great. It tastes more like someone has overcooked peanut shells and stuck them in the attic for a while. As a result, the taste is musty and smoky, but these flavors are not adding anything good to the taste. I think there might even be a hint of wet dog in there with the peanut shells. I'm not sure how they could of done this so wrong. The cream is adding enough creaminess to give a pleasant mouth feel, but the competing tastes just aren't what they should be. Fortunately, they are muted enough, and the alcohol is heavy enough, that it doesn't make this out-right bad. Instead, it's just not good.
Bottom Line: Better things come out of Ireland.
