So, this time, when I start drinking this Appalachian sippin' cream, I know going in that this is moonshine mixed with cream. In retrospect, I may have come down too harshly or, rather, thought less of the distillery for not making something bespoke for cream. I'm not sure why it bother me at all. My apprehension this time is the fact that it is flavored butter pecan. I like butter, but I don't like pecans. Specifically, I don't like the texture of a pecans. As this is going to be a cream, I won't have to deal with the texture, and I'll get to just deal with the flavor that is a pecan. I wonder if I'll like it.
As usual, this looks like cream. It slightly darker than heavy cream, but it's just cream. The aroma is impressively filled with pecans. Normally, I'll get a bit of alcohol seeping through, but not this time. I think I can smell the butter, but pecans are giving off an aroma like they own the place. I guess that's cool by me, as they smell pretty good. There's not much more to the presentation, so I'm just gonna start sippin'.First sip is very nice. The cream mixes with the butter in a way that finishes the beverage in the smoothest way possible. The pecans themselves taste really good, and I don't have to deal with that strange, wax-covered rocky nonsense that is a natural pecan. Instead, this is incredibly smooth, and the pecans add a delightfully roasted flavor to the buttery cream. This is quite rich, and I don't taste the alcohol.
More sips give me more of the same. The roasted nature of the pecans seems to be coming through pretty well, and it adds more complexity to the beverage. What's strange is that I don't taste the 20% ABV at all. Maybe I'm just acclimated to it. Either way, this goes down very smooth. Dangerously smooth. If I'm not careful, I will sip this all weekend.
Bottom Line: Tasty, smooth, and buttery.
