Love is love. Is this a political statement or a coincidental tautology? Well, based on the rainbow colors on the side of the can and a brief love message statement, I'm going to say that this is a political statement. Honestly, it probably shouldn't be. Why is "love is love" controversial? What is controversial is my reviews of beers sometimes. I will occasionally go to other beer review sites after I've written my reviews to see if they agree with me. Often times, they do not. I'm not particularly intimidated by that or put off by it, but it seems interesting. My reviews are mostly just written for me, so I assume people in other locations on the Internet are are only occasionally reading and enjoying them. Taste buds don't always work the same.
The beer comes out slightly hazier than I expected, and it does not produce a whole bunch of head. Indeed, the head goes away completely. I don't mean that it only has scattered bubbles here and there - this beer is naked. The aroma is sweet grains and light coriander. I don't know why, but I expected citrus to be in abundance. I may have been confusing a hefeweizen with a standard wheat ale.First sip is surprisingly smooth after the grains, coriander, banana, and even clove kind of build a nest together where they nuzzle each other. Specifically, coriander and clove don't seem like the kind of things that would be particularly harmonious in a single beverage. Nevertheless, there is a honey-like smoothness that draws out the flavors without letting them get too harsh. I could absolutely see sipping this all night, and I might do that with the second. The first, however, gets a gulp.
Tip-in is very light carbonation tingle with coriander, banana, and grains piling on. The middle pushes carbonation to the top of the mouth where the grains increase its buzzing and the assorted flavors are joined by clove in the center of the mouth with the honey smoothness oozing across the tongue. The finish is where bubbles alight the tongue as the now muted flavors attempt to cling on for the trail off.
Bottom Line: I'm not sure I love this beer, but I like it very, very much.
