With a name like "Coastal Love" I expected this to pick a lane as either a West Coast IPA or a New England IPA. This labels itself as neither. Instead, it falls into the horror trap that is the "hazy" label. Well, making something hazy is actually pretty easy - you just don't filter it as much. I don't know why it became a thing, but here we are.
The yellow seems to thin to a very watery yellow by the bottom of the glass, and the white head is pretty much average for height coming out of the can as it descends to a thin and almost complete layer across the top of the beer with a patch here and there. It's actually surprising how little lacing it leaves in its wake. The aroma is a little off. Maybe seeds and rind start this off, but there is a funk of something like nearly rancid orange juice.First sip is not a brew of rancid oranges as I had feared. It is, however, not good. The orange is highly acidic, and it is violent against the back of the throat after what at first seemed like a perfectly good beer. I can't say I want to sip this again, like, ever. And I won't. I'm going to give it a swig, but if it doesn't improve, this is going down the drain.
Tip-in is oranges and grapefruit over a layer of watered down battery acid. The middle moves to become a rage of carbonation that drowns out everything else before the finish becomes awash with orange acid and failed dreams.
Bottom Line: Impressively bad.
