I haven't had enough of Benford's wares to know where they're coming from. Right now, they're all over the place, and that at least means they're swinging hard. This label, however, is not the product of particularly hard work. From the unfortunate font choice to the scattered, unfocused clip art, I don't know what I'm supposed to expect here.
The pale yellow beer is considerably more hazy than most lagers I've encountered. It fills the ... I want to call this a flute or something ... to the rim and beyond with big, beautiful bubbles that force me to go through a gentle pour three times just to get the whole can in the glass. Eventually, I'm all set to try it out with its even pillow of medium and small bubbles. The aroma wafts with sweet bread malt and light citrus.First sip is wheat and tart in a completely unexpected way. I'm going to go ahead and give this a second taste. And... no, it is not better. The tartness overwhelms whatever else is trying to go on around here, and the tartness isn't quite all the way to sour, but it's just about as unwelcome in its current volume.
Tip-in is tart and grainy. Middle is less tart and more grainy. The finish is a return of tart and some more grains.
Bottom Line: Do not want
