I will admit to not noticing that the was a light beer at first. I mean, it has light on the front, so I should have known, but it looks like it's just a descriptor for the expected texture of the beer or something. It's okay, though, as I have really kind of started looking for the best light beer I can find. They are (it seems) just as hard to make as the alcohol free beers, and they use similar techniques to overcome their problems.
The pale, clear yellow beer expresses about a perfect amount of head. When it dissipates, a scattered and nearly entirely disconnected layer of bubbles only manages to cover about a third of the beer. The aroma is sourdough bread that is tart with lemons.First sip is not the watery, disorganized mess that I had (deep in my heart) feared I was going to encounter. Instead, I'm getting a drink that is... really not nice, but the taste is just kind of bland bread malt with lemon and dryness. The smell hits right as I get to the beer, and it is making the bland beverage bad.
Tip-in is mild carbonation with light lemon and dust from the top of the bread. The middle heightens carbonation and increase the malt, but the beer is a bit watery. The finish is drier with slight bitterness and lemon twang.
Bottom Line: Not the worst light beer I've had.
