I figure this is like White Claw, but I've never had a White Claw. I don't know what it tastes like, and I really don't have much of a desire to try. Nevertheless, this was a gift from my brother, so I'm going to give this kind a try. It is curious that on the label it specifically calls out that it is a vodka beverage. I guess I was unaware of the type of alcohol that was added to this kind of carbonated "water."
First sip is not entirely unpleasant nor is it entirely good. It is very watery in its nature, and it is not particularly sweet. It is relatively dry for a glass of what is, ostensibly, water. The carbonation seems to bring out the cherry flavor fairly well, and I'm curious as to why they didn't just add some food coloring and call this a cherry soda. Mind you, they would have to add more cherry. Maybe that was the problem.
Tip-in is noteworthy carbonation sizzle with black cherry mist above a very watery center. The middle upticks the carbonation even more, and it becomes a fury as the cherry retards into the background and water rises up with what is a distinct alcohol glaze. The finish is quite dry with the taste of artificial cherry holding on a little too long.
Bottom Line: I'm not sure who the target audience for this beverage is, but it's not me.
