I was absolutely sure that I had a beer from Atlanta before, but I searched through all of the Georgia beers I've had, and I'll be damned if I can find one. So, this may not be a good first test for the brewery. Unless they are going to specialize in dessert beers like the impressively capable Decadent brewery, this is probably an outlier of styles for Atlanta, and those tend to not go well.
First sip is nothing like either fruit punch or a milkshake. Is it like an IPA? Well, yes, but not a particularly great one. This one is no shrinking violet, and the flavors it brings are too strident and I feel like it's attacking my tastebuds with fruit rinds and bitterness. I'm not sold on the idea of this beer at all.
Tip-in is moderate carbonation sizzle with tart fruits and an undercurrent of bitterness. The middle rolls with a more sedate and friendly version of this beer with the fruits suddenly becoming mildly sweet, but I'm still not picking up any milkshake - this isn't creamy at all. Then, the finish is a thunk of bitterness as the fruits turn to rinds and maybe - - maybe - - there is a bit of an echo of cream.
Bottom Line: Not the dessert beer it says it should be on the label.
