When a beer starts commenting about how great it is cold, it usually doesn't bode well for the beer. This is despite the fact that I have a relatively high opinion of Terrapin as a brewery. Upon reading the can, I see that this is supposed to refer to a way that they freeze the hops before they brew with them; I'm not sure they know what cryogenics is, though.
The clear, gold beer doesn't emit a significant amount of head, and the remnants on top become a spiderweb of tiny bubbles that randomly connects the sides to each other. The aroma is very muted hops of the floral and somewhat citrus variety, but, like I said, they are very muted.First sip is crisp, a little dry, and it reminds me of that NA beer I had a little while ago. It feels like it's trying to have a bunch of flavor, but it's trying to overcome some part of their process that would otherwise rob the beer of its flavor. The result is a beer that feels like it's trying too hard.
Tip-in is light citrus spritz of orange and tangerine while carbonation sizzles pretty intensely. The middle morphs into vague malt with the sizzle hanging on as acid rises from the pits of the fruit. The finish is a crisp snap where dryness settles over the mouth and a trail-off of floral dust hangs in the air.
Bottom Line: Not overtly offensive.
