These gentlemen from Panther Creek have been on the correct side of the 2.5 average with every beer I've tried so far. Since my first published review in April, this is my fourth beer from them, and the last one I had came dangerously close to a perfect five. Will this one make it the whole way? Well, this is my first DIPA from these guys, and that is one of my favorite styles.
It seems like most of the haze that I perceive in this gold beverage is actually just condensation on the outside of the glass. The white head is lots of tiny bubbles, and it's not so excessive that I wasn't able to fit the entire pint in the glass. The aroma is citrus fruits, a little bit of earth, and a vague sensation of dank. This beer should get interesting.
First sip exactly follows the nose. It has more dank than I was able to smell, but it ingratiates itself inside the citrus in a very pleasant and reassuring way. The end result of the beverage is something that seems like it's kind of juicy at the front, but then a bitterness, dankness, and dryness overtake everything to leave the mouth desperately wanting more.
Tip-in is light earth, carbonation frizzle, sweet orange, and grapefruit. The middle becomes a mellow river of delightful juices with dank and carbonation on the free ends and that sensation of earth leveling the flavors off. The middle is a quick hit of bitterness before the bitterness and sweetness start to dance for the dry trail off.
Bottom Line: A delightful beverage from a delightful brewery.
