The copper-hued beer is very murky in its depths, and its head is a mass of tiny little bubbles that only leave the kind of lacing that is supported by the bubbles still remaining on top of the beer (which isn't really lacing). Under the thin veneer of bubbles across the top, the beverage emits a decidedly tropical fruit aroma. I've had a particularly long day before starting this review, and I'm really looking forward to a beer.First sip is remarkably smooth for as much of a funky mist as there seems to be at the end of the beer. Apricot, tangerine, pear, and a caramel malt mix very well underneath this haze that is almost nonexistent whenever you first take a sip, but the trail off definitely has it in spades. Is it a good sip? Well, it's not bad. The carbonation sting seems to be adding to a roughness that is inherent to the mixture presented.
Tip-in is moderate carbonation burn under tangerine, peach, pear, and a malt that now presents as more of a hard-baked crust. The middle can't hold back the carbonation, so the burning is associated with a rise in caramel malt that mixes with the fruits; the description would seem to indicate that this was bad, but it's actually not. The finish is a sudden pool of bitterness underneath the carbonation dazzle that turns into a mist of tartness and bitterness.
Bottom Line: Perfectly serviceable, but it's a bit too overbearing.
