I wouldn't mind seeing more from DuClaw. So far, I only had two of their beers, but I very much enjoyed both of them. While hovering in the Great range might not seem like high praise, I reiterate that anything from 2.0-3.0 is Average (which means it's still not half bad). If you can get your beer above that range consistently, you're decidedly doing things right.
The beer is, indeed, hazy. It is a hazy orange beer with an off-white head that fizzles down to a smattering of bubbles, a light ring around the sides, and absolutely no lacing. The aroma is citrus and tropical fruit with a bread malt backing; it smells very good, and I wanna just ditch the review and drink. But that isn't the way.
First sip is a little bit of dank added to the mix, but it isn't so slap-you-in-the-face that it is overly distracting from stone fruits, tropical fruits, and citrus. This has so much fruit in it, it might be a juicy IPA if it weren't for the fact that the dank adds a certain amount of dryness to the end.
Tip-in is a rising tide of carbonation burn atop orange, tangerine, and starfruit. The carbonation takes it up a bit as the other fruits - peaches, pears, nectarines, and possibly more oranges - seep into the very light, crusty bread malt. The finish is a sharp tartness followed by a hollow dryness before the malt turns doughy and serves a sweet orange for the trail-off.
Bottom Line: She's good and she knows it.
