The opaquely cloudy beer is not particularly forthcoming with foam. Instead, the meager head that you see in this picture really had to be coaxed out, and it went away pretty quickly. Lacing left on the side of the glass is of the smudge variety, and it does not enhance the beauty of the beverage in any way. The aroma is, indeed, very citrus. Oranges are very up front with tangerine close at hand. This beer smells really good, and I'm gonna drink it.First sip is quite citrus indeed. The juiciness of the front end is counterpointed by a very dry rind on the backend. Right in the middle there are a bunch of fruits all mangled together, and they're all vying for attention. A dryness comes with the bitterness, but it does not seem disharmonious with the rest of the beer. I could see sipping this for some time, and I wouldn't consider this a dessert beer. Instead, it's a very fruitful IPA. This makes it very much outside of their wheelhouse, and I'm not sure that it's decadent enough to justify the price that they're charging.
Tip-in is orange, tangerine, and bitterness with a tartness edging in. The middle flows into a sudden increase of carbonation while the bitterness comes to cover up any kind of sweetness that the fruit was trying to bring; all the while, new fruits like grapefruit, mango, and lemons are jostling for third spot behind the tangerine and orange. The finish brings a sudden shift to dryness with bitterness close at hand as the fruit turns into peels for somewhat musty trail off.
Bottom Line: It's certainly not a bad beer, but it wouldn't be my go-to IPA.
