First sip is a strong ass beverage. It's tart and bitter with orange, apple, and spices mixed in. It actually reminds me of a Magic Hat #9 with orange and apple instead of apricot. There's also a noticeable burn of carbonation that is not entirely unexpected, but this kind of carbonation burn normally does not present itself with a simple sip. I anticipate more of that in ... the big gulp. Guess what I'm doing next.
Tip-in is carbonation, the biscuit malt, a little orange, and some grains. It may sound simple, but that's quite a few different tastes all hitting right from the get-go. The middle is a tangy, tart, carbonated wash of lite grain hops and the bready malt again. The finish is a big wave of bitter and sour before a slight sweet edge is detected, but it doesn't finish smoothly. I really think the right finish might make me like this beer more, but it needs something more sweet than it has.
Bottom Line: A decent beer, but it needs more work for the price.
