First sip is very, very good. It's got that smokey flavor that puts me in mind of a porter, but it has a sweetness that reminds me more of a milk stout, and I do love a good milk stout. It has a bit of pine that comes out as well, and that just adds enough to the complexity to make it an even more memorable beverage. I know what you're thinking, "Tim, how does it taste when you drink like a man and stop sipping?" Good news, reader, you're about to find out.
Tip-in is cold carbonation with that pine kind of flirting with the taste buds. the middle has all the hops (that I didn't really taste much in the sip) that are cut with the substantial sweetness of the malt. It's a very good center - not the best ever - but very good. the finish carries a bitterness with slight caramel and coffee and a pretty decent floral tinge added on. The taste that lingers is a bit more pine and flowers.
It seems like they merged an IPA with a porter or milk stout. They did a very good job of it, too.
