That Damguday made for a damn good day. Will this beer outsmart me like a fox? Is that even the intent? I mean, yeast isn't particularly bright, as organisms go. I'm not the smartest human on the planet, but I can probably hold my own against a yeast. So, no. It will not outsmart me. But, I guess foxes are sly, and that's kind of a different thing.
The yellow beer is hazy, so I think I really need to let go of my distaste for adding "hazy" to the label. It just really annoys me. The head... should be stickier. It leaves a bit of lacing, but the impression of the bubbles themselves seems to indicate that it would be fluffier and stickier, but it's not. Maybe if this was a DIPA, it would have more gravitas. The aroma is tropical fruit peels and a spritz or two that hit my nose as I'm inhaling.
First sip is a pillowy, very nice, calm tropical flavor. It's exceptionally smooth. It seemed like a big bite was inevitable, but it never comes. The result is a beer that I probably should sip all night long. What could be better in a swig? Would a swig just ruin this whole experience? I guess we'll find out.
Tip-in is mango and apricot just hanging out with mild carbonation. The middle becomes solid fruit meat that is sweet and fluffy. The finish is a cold, tart smack of fruit that sends waves of bitterness into the trail off.
