Old Forge needs to take a step in the right direction. Is cream the step they need to take? Well, yes. It's about the safest bet they can make this side of becoming a brewery and starting to produce an IPA. I don't know if it's the smooth nature of these kinds of adult beverages or if it's the sweet and delightful way they sneak the heavy alcohol into the mix.
This is the most cream-like cream I've reviewed on this blog from the look of it. I mean, it's just a shade or two darker than regular whipping cream. As usual, there's not much else to talk about with appearance, though. The aroma is pumpkin spice. I say this knowing that they called this pumpkin cream and not pumpkin spice cream. I still smell spice in there, so I am calling them liars.First sip is honestly outstanding. I think they could have just called this pumpkin pie and been done with the whole thing. There is narry an apple pie moonshine that I have tried that taste as much like apple pie than this does pumpkin pie. It's rich, smooth, has flakes of cinnamon, and light spices to present a really nice beverage.
With only a 17% ABV, the alcohol isn't really enough to give me that warm sensation that flows down the gullet, but it is very nice and demure. The alcohol is noticeable, but it's not coming anywhere near the idea of running the show. Instead, the smooth pumpkin and I are going to sit by the fire and enjoy the chilled deliciousness that this bottle is offering.
Bottom Line: Outstanding.
